Traffic Information

When you land at Manchester Airport, which receives both national and international flights, a free shuttle bus takes you from the arrivals hall to the car rental village where our desk is clearly signposted. Once you have collected your vehicle it is only a few minutes drive to the city centre. The other three branches in Manchester are all within easy reach of the city's bus and Metrolink networks.

Do I need a credit card?

No, you can pay for your rental car with all UK debit cards including Maestro and Visa Debit cards. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver and must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time. Payment with a UK Visa Debit card is possible only up to and including the Vehicle group F***. Sixt Express Service card is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card.

What is included in the hire charge?

The amount that will be debited includes the rental price as well as all additional charges and extras, if any. Road tax is included in the rent, but Premium Location fees, Out of Opening Hours and Congestion fees are not.

Can I hire a certain car model? If I'm not happy with my vehicle can I change it?

Due to various reasons we are unable to guarantee make and model, however we will be happy to accept requests for any particular preference you may have. However please be advised this is not guaranteed.

Do I have to pay a security deposit?

Before a vehicle is hired, we always obtain an approval of the amount of the rental cost plus GBP 250.00 deposit for debit cards or twice the rental amount on credit cards, with a minimum deposit of GBP 250.00 and a maximum of GBP 5,000.00. The deposit for high-value vehicles may differ. The exact deposit is determined on collection since the amount is dependent on the vehicle.

Which documents are needed to pick up the rental car?

• 1. A full driving licence (UK customers must include the printed endorsement record or the code obtained from the DVLA website here for all named drivers, with details of all endorsements. Driving licences printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an International driving licence.
• 2. A valid photo ID (passport, ID card, driving licence).
• 3. A third form of ID that proves your address, e.g. utility bill or bank statement.

What do the various insurance options cover?

Insurance coverage for the vehicle rented includes Third Party Liability with a maximum cover of £5,000,000 for damaged vehicle and unlimited liability for personal injuries. Insurance coverage is limited to Europe only.

Loss Damage Waiver removes the driver's responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft. LDW is mandatory in Great Britain unless the customer is from the US or Canada and has insurance cover through their own credit card.

The Glass and Windscreen coverage waives your responsibility in the event of damages to the windscreen, side windows, rear-window or mirror glass with a deductible of GBP 0.00.

Roadside Protection is an extended breakdown protection during the rental and protects you at home against high service and repair costs for the following incidents caused by you, e.g.: key locked in vehicle, empty tank, flat battery, loss of key and a stuck vehicle.

Can I rent the car at one place and drop it off at another station?

Yes, although this may incur a one-way rental fee that will be shown during the booking process. Please note: one-way rentals may be restricted if you plan on crossing borders.

Can I change my booking and do I have to pay a cancellation fee?

It is perfectly possible to make changes to your booking, but please note that any fees incurred may vary dependent upon your booking.

Does Sixt deliver rental cars?

Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee. This service is available on request for an additional commitment fee outside opening times at selected locations.

Can I cross borders with my rental car?

It is possible to take your rental car across national borders, but this is dependent upon the country you will be entering and the type of vehicle you are renting.

What is Sixt's refuelling policy?

If desired, the vehicle will be refuelled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station. Alternatively, you may purchase a full tank of fuel at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.
