The renter and the driver must be in possession of a full, valid driver's license for at least one year and present it together with an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle. Furthermore, the following conditions apply depending on the issuing country of the driving licence.
EU Driving Licences
Valid driving licences of all EU countries are accepted.
All Other Licences
Driving Licences printed with non-Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, and Cyrillic) must be accompanied by a valid International Driving Permit.
For driving licenses from countries not part of the Geneva/ Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (e.g. China), an official translation of the license in English must be presented with the original license.
Please note that you must be able to present a physical driver's license or a Danish digital driver's license via the Driver's License app.
You must present documentation for your registered address at pick up.
In Denmark, the following rules apply for the minimum age and possession of a driver's license:

A Young Driver Surcharge applies for drivers under 26 years.
All credit cards from internationally recognized credit card companies - such as American Express, Eurocard/Mastercard, Diners Club, Visa and debit cards are acceptable as payment methods whereas any third party credit cards or prepaid cards are not accepted. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time.
Debit cards (Visa Electron, Mastercard) are only accepted for the following vehicle groups: M***, E***, C***
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard is only accepted in combination with a valid Credit Card and driver license.
Cash Payment and payment by checks is not accepted.
We also do not accept digital solutions such as Apple Pay, MobilePay or other digital payment solutions.
Pincode is required on all creditcard transactions.
An advance charge approval is obtained for the chosen means of payment as a security.

All renters with a CPR number, will be checked in the Danish Debtor Registry ("Debitor Registret") and any form of registration that illustrates a neglected payment history of the renter / payer, c/o address or missing result upon search, will result in Sixt rejecting the possibility of rental.
All searches in the Debtor Registry are in accordance with the rules in the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Before the commencement of a rental agreement, the renter must provide his/her e-mail address and telephone number. Phone numbers based on prepaid services are not accepted.

When booking at a prepaid rate, the payment will be charged along with the total rental price (incl. booked extras and charges) prior to the rental. The driver and mode of payment shall be finalised at the time of reservation and cannot be changed. A refund shall not be issued for non-collection, vehicle being collected late or returned early.
Changing booking
A prepaid booking can be changed up to 48 hours before the start of the rental (depending on availability) in return for a booking modification fee of 149,00 DKK. Any payment already made towards the rental will not be refunded; nor shall any differential amount be refunded if this modification leads to a lesser rental cost. Any changes made to a prepaid reservation may impact the rental rate. A change from a prepaid rate to a non-prepaid rate is not possible.
Cancellation
A booking can be cancelled before the start of the rental. In the event of cancellation, the payment already made towards the rental will be paid back subject to a cancellation charge. The cancellation charge shall be the amount of the rental charge ( including any extras and charges) for a maximum of 3 rental days. No-show
In the event that the booked vehicle is not collected or not collected at the agreed time, the rental charge already paid shall be withheld in full.
Protection coverage for the vehicle includes Third Party Liability with coverage for personal injuries up to a total of 124.000.000 DKK and material damages up to 25.000.000 DKK.
Excluded from the protection is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's license at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Loss Damage Waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage or theft.
If LDW is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amount: 5000,00 DKK (different amounts may occur for longterm rentals or corporate rates).
In addition to the above the renter is obliged to reimburse Sixt for repair days (up to a maximum of totally 16.000 DKK). Repair days are defined as days Sixt cannot rent the vehicle as a result of damage caused by the renter, unknown counterparty or due to theft of the vehicle.
LDW is mandatory for all Danish rentals.
If LDW is already included in the rates, the renter can choose Top Cover LDW to reduce the Non-Waiverable Responsibility.
If Top Cover LDW is accepted, the renter is only responsible for the following amounts: 3,000.00 DKK per damage.
Tyre and Windscreen Coverage provides cover against the consequences of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If TG is not accepted the customer will be held liable for the full value of damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and backwindow.
If TG is accepted, customer is only responsible for the following amounts: 0.00 DKK. Rims and wheelcaps are also covered by TG insurance.
By taking out personal accident protection, coverage can also be extended to cover the consequences of an accident.
By taking out PAP the limit of liability is:
1,000,000.00 DKK for invalidity,
120,000.00 DKK for decease,
20,000.00 DKK for medical costs.
Personal Accident Protection incl. Baggage covers the same as Personal Accident Protection along with belongings transported in the vehicle up to 20.000 DKK. Special valuables (jewelry, cash, etc.) are not covered by this protection. The protection does not apply if luggage or belongings are stolen from the vehicle.
During the rental period, the renter can claim roadside assistance in the event of technical breakdowns and without taking out additional insurance. A technical breakdown is defined, for example, as engine damage.
Please note that breakdowns caused by renters or counterparts are not covered by the free roadside assistance and will be subject to a flat fee.
If you want coverage for non-technical breakdowns, you can purchase extended roadside assistance insurance, called BC.
Road Protection Plus is an extra protection that can be accepted upon picking up the vehicle. This covers the renter's expenses for towing in case of the situations below:
Examples of non-technical breakdowns:
- Towing of a vehicle (related to accidents).
- Incorrect or missing fuel
- Lack of power for electric cars
- Broken or lost car keys
- Punctures and /or damage to tires (covered if tire and windshield insurance is purchased)
- Discharged battery due to lights being on or similar.
- Opening of a locked door
Cross Border Rentals are not allowed.
In case of violation, you will be charged a fee for the violation, and all insurance coverage will be invalidated.
Accessories are bookable without obligation and subject to availability.
Skip waiting and avoid queues, SIXT Fast Track offers you the possibility of a contactless vehicle collection and return at selected SIXT stations. Please note that the service is subject to a fee.
One-way rentals within Sixt locations in Denmark are allowed under conditions depending on tarif.
In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.
Navigation systems are available subject to a fee.
Baby seats, child seats and booster seats are available subject to a fee.
All vehicles are supplied with a full tank of fuel and should be refilled prior to return to Sixt, otherwise the current prices per litre of petrol or diesel will be charged.
Electric Vehicles must be returned 80% charged. In case the vehicle is not charged sufficiently additional costs will apply.
Alternatively, you may purchase a tankful of fuel at the time of reservation or at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations and return the tank empty. No refunds will be given for unused fuel.
Prepaid charging may be purchased at the time of rental so the car can be returned with low/empty battery.
Alternatively, you may book a tanking service for a fee and return the tank empty. The refueled liters will be charges at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations additionally to the prior noted tanking service fee.
Winter tyres are available subject to a fee.
Deliveries and collections are available at the local rental station subject to a fee.
Out of Opening Hours no Delivery/Collection Service is offered.
A 230V Charge Cable is available for your electric vehicle subject to a fee.
A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations. At Copenhagen Airport the premium location
fee is per recurring invoice.
Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.
All Danish Sixt cars are non-smoking cars. If a car needs additional cleaning/smell-removal caused by smoking, strong smelling air fresheners or others, a fee will be added to the invoice. This is out of consideration for allergic customers. The same applies if there are visible signs of animals in the vehicle.
Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement.
If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on (+45) 32 48 11 00 or in person at any of our stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.
If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.
When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.
If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you DKK 93.75 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.
If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of DKK 150.00 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.
With our Flexi Return guarantee, you will always have maximum flexibility and cost-efficiency when driving.
