The lessee and the driver must present a valid driver's license and an identity card or passport while receiving delivery of the vehicle.
Driver's licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if: a) no visa has been entered in the passport. b) the customer has a visa in his passport and at the time of hire has not been in Europe for longer than 6 months. If he has been in Europe for longer than 6 months, he must present a driver's license from an EU country.
Driver's license printed with non Roman Alphabet (Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic etc) must be complemented by an international driver's licence. For driver's licenses from countries not part of the international driver's license treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
Italian residents renting a vehicle on a private basis must provide their tax number (Codice Fiscale) or, for corporate rentals, their company VAT ID number (Partita IVA).
Certain regulations apply related to minimum age and possession of driver's license which can be found during the booking process depending on the booked vehicle. Basically, the minimum age for every driver is 18 years (having held the driving license for at least 1 year). A deviation from the minimum age is possible depending on the vehicle.
A young driver surcharge applies for drivers under 25 years.
All credit and debit cards of internationally recognised credit card companies (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB), Airplus and Amex BTA/iBTA are accepted as payment methods, whereas all pre-paid cards are not accepted. The payment method must have been issued in the name of the driver. This must be presented at the time of vehicle pick-up and be valid at this time. The amount that will be debited includes the rental price as well as all additional extras and charges.
Cash Payment is not accepted.
Vehicles from the PDMR group and higher as well as Special Cars can only be hired with a credit card accepted by Sixt or a Sixt credit/identification means. All other vehicle groups as well as Convertibles from the MTMR, CTMR, ITMR groups and Offroaders from the CFAR, CFMR, IFMR, SFMR, FFMR groups can also be hired on presentation of a Maestro/VPAY card. Payment with a Maestro/VPAY card is not permitted for long-term rentals.
Cash and cheques are not accepted.
Sixt CarExpress Servicecard (Advantage Circle) is only accepted in combination with a valid means of payment.
As security, the means of payment is debited with a deposit amount. The amount of the deposit depends on the vehicle group of the rented vehicle and according to the following table:

Please note, that payments with credit card may require the PIN of the credit card.
By booking the "Sixt Luck Dip Car" (Acriss code CCCC) customers will have the opportunity to receive a car from one of the following groups: Economy, Compact, Intermediate, Standard or Full Size. The group will depend on daily availability at the branch.
In case of prepaid rate, a deposit equal to the total amount of the selected services (including booked extras and taxes) will be deposited, in accordance with art. 1385 of the Italian Civil Code. The driver and payment details are fixed in writing at the time of booking and cannot be changed If the vehicle is not picked up or if the customer does not show up at the agreed time and place, Sixt will retain the deposit as a penalty. If the customer cancels the reservation, Sixt shall keep part of the deposit corresponding to the first three rental days, as an administrative charge.
Subject to availability, it is possible to modify the reservation with an administrative charge of EUR 29.99, up to 1 hour prior to the start of the rental through the dedicated hotline, or online up to 48 hours before the rental period. If any, it is necessary to pay the difference between the original chosen rate and the modified rate, if higher, by the end of the rental period.

Insurance cover for the vehicle includes liability insurance with maximum cover for personal injury amounting to EUR 22,5 million and property damage amounting to EUR 2,5 million.
Excluded from the insurance is the use of the vehicle for the transport of dangerous goods. All protection as part of the rental contract will become void, in particular, if an unauthorized driver has used the vehicle or if the driver of the vehicle does not possess the required driver's licence at the time of the event giving rise to claim.
Collision damage waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of damage.
If collision damage waiver is accepted, the customer is entitled, depending on the vehicle, to a deductible of EUR 1,000.00 to EUR 2,800.00. In addition, a reduction of the deductible is possible.
In the event of willful or grossly negligent damage caused, a claim on the agreed fully comprehensive cover (incl. theft cover) can be reduced or lapsed.
If no fully comprehensive cover has been arranged, the leaser is responsible for all damage to the car not proven to be caused by a third party, and shall be liable for up to the full value of the vehicle.
The theft waiver removes the drivers responsibility to a part of the vehicle in case of theft.
If anti-theft cover is concluded, liability ranges from a deductible of EUR 1,900 to EUR 3,500, depending on the vehicle. In addition a reduction in the deductible is possible.
In the event of willful or grossly negligent damage caused, a claim on the arranged theft cover can be reduced or lapsed.
If no theft cover has been arranged, the leaser is responsible for the loss of the rental car and is liable for up to the full value of the vehicle.
If Loss Damage Waiver incl. Theft Protection with reduced/minimum excess is accepted, the renter will still be held liable in the event of theft in the regions of Apulia, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise or Sicily with the following amounts:

The tire and glass coverage provides protection for damages on tires, windscreen, side windows and the rear window with a deductible of EUR 0.00.
If no glass and tyre cover has been arranged, the leaser shall be liable for up to the full amount of the damage.
The roadside protection is an extended breakdown protection during the rental and protects you at home and abroad against high service and repair costs for the following incidents caused by you: key locked in vehicle, breaking caused by lack of fuel, assistance with starting necessitated by flat battery, loss of key and vehicle stuck.
All services may only be ordered by a direct claim with Sixt 24-hour Roadside Assistance. They shall also determine the type and extent of service required to ensure the renter stays mobile. If any damage to the rental vehicle occurs which is not covered by Sixt within the scope of the Roadside Protection, the renter is liable for such damage.
By taking out insurance protection for the interior, liability in the event of damage to the vehicle interior can be reduced to a predetermined deductible or eliminated.
The vehicle selection can restrict travel to certain countries. For a description of these restrictions on admission, the countries are divided into three zones.
Zone 1: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and Vatican.
Zone 2: Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia
Zone 3: All countries which are not in zone 1 or 2.
Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen cars up to group L*** are allowed to enter only in Zone 1 countries as well as Poland and the Czech Republic.
Jaguar, Maserati, Land Rover and Porsche cars as well as all luxury cars may enter only in Zone 1 countries.
Vehicles of all other brands may enter only in the zones 1 and 2.
Entry into countries of zone 2 is permitted with following Offroader/SUV: Opel Mokka, Volvo XC60/XC70, Nissan Qashqai, Ford Kuga und Fiat 500x. Offroader/SUV of other manufacturers are just permitted to enter in countries of zone 1.
Entry into any country in zone 3 is not permitted.
The local transport of the vehicle by ferry is permitted in compliance with the above-mentioned entry restrictions. Damage to the vehicle during the crossing will be covered according to the protection booked in the rental contract.
The car models Fiat 500, 500x, 500L and Alfa Romeo Giulietta cannot be returned in the following regions of Southern Italy: Campania, Apulia, Molise, Basilicata, Calabria, Sicily and Sardinia.
In case of offence against cross border and territorial restrictions all insurances lose their validity.
If the desired one-way rental is possible, respective charges may apply.
In the case of unannounced and unauthorised one-way rentals, we reserve the right to charge an additional fee.
Navigation systems are guaranteed to be available if a booking is made.
A charge is levied for the additional driver, whose details are noted in the lease only if the additional driver presents a valid driver's license.
Baby seats, child seats and booster seats for children from 0 to 36 kg are guaranteed to be available if a booking is made (groups 0+, 0, 1, 2 and 3).
If desired, the vehicle will be refuled according to currently available conditions after returning it to the station.
Alternatively at the time of rental you can buy a full tank of fuel at comparable pump prices and thus return the vehicle without filling it up. Please note that unused fuel will not be refunded.
Alternatively, you may book a tanking service for a fee and return the tank empty. The refueled liters will be charges at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations additionaly to the prior noted tanking service fee. Subject to availability, at selected stations only.
Deliveries and collections are available for a fee at selected Sixt stations.
This service is available on request for an additional commitment fee outside opening times at selected locations.
Please note that between 15 November and 15 April winter tyres or snow chains are legally required in many cities. An overview of the rules can be found at www.poliziadistato.it.
To meet these provisions, vehicles at stations in the regions where these provisions apply are equipped with snow chains at the charge of an additional fee. In addition to the snow chains, winter tires are also available as an option, subject to availability and a fee.
Outside the regions/time periods where these provisions apply, winter tyres and/or snow chains are provided for a fee subject to availability. In addition, ski racks can also be reserved at selected stations.
Upon request, we will guarantee a vehicle with a diesel engine for a fee.
A premium location fee occurs for rentals at airport and train stations.
For rentals which last longer than 29 days, it is the renter's responsibility to register the rental with the motorisation authority. Sixt will gladly register the vehicle for you on collection. You will be charged a fee of EUR 18.30 (incl. taxes). Alternatively, the renter can choose to self-register. Also in that case, a fee - charged by the motorisation authority - will apply.
Out of opening hours service is available at selected stations. In this case, an additional charge applies for the provision of the service.
There will be a registration fee.
Plans can change. As a flexible mobility partner, we are happy to adapt to your plans. Thanks to our Flexi Return guarantee, you have the freedom to return the vehicle at any time to an authorised Sixt station, regardless of the rental agreement.
If your plans change during your hire period, let us know by telephone on +39 029 475 797 9 or in person at any of our numerous stations, and our employees will amend your rental contract. By doing this, we can adapt to your changed plans. This service is, of course, free of charge for you.
If you return your vehicle earlier than agreed in the rental contract, we will charge the rental price according to the rental contract. You will receive a partial discount for the unused rental days.
When booking at a prepaid rate, a refund shall not be issued for returned early. For further information please refer to the section Prepaid Tariff - Pay now.
If you return the vehicle later, without notifying us, we will bill you EUR 12.20 service fee for the Flexi Return Service. This fee applies in addition to any extra days which might incur due to the rental extension.
If you return the vehicle to a station other than that agreed in the rental contract, the Flexi Return location will incur a service fee of EUR 20.00 if we have not been informed of the changes to the rental contract in advance.
